Michael Steele Becomes The First African American To Head The RNC

I completely disagree with the brother's politics, but his achievement should be celebrated, there will be plenty of time to wild out over his future role as RNC chair. So, congratulations, Mr. Steele. This is a major achievement for black Republicans and another historical first for our people.

  1. Is it unreasonable for me to say that they picked Steele for their own survival in this multicultural, not-afraid-to-vote-for-a-black-man-with-the-middle-name-of-Hussein America? I think the 2008 loss and the "death spiral" that the GOP is in right now (Nate Silver's words), they had to make this move.

I hope he can reign in the white racist rhetoric in 2010 and 2012.

  2. You are so correct Shurl

This is no true achievement for Steele, but a compromise on the part of the white folks. Because the core of the GOP is evaporating!

  3. If his appointment can help to change what the years of ignorance and racism has created good for him. I'm not holding my breath. The RNC has a few more years to plant a few tokens here and there. But we all know how far that can take us...
