Will Somebody, Anybody Pick A Vice-President Already!!!

Am I alone in being completely sick and tired of both candidates dancing around picking a running mate? Considering the completely wack-ass choices being floated by both candidates, I don't know what the hell the hold up is. Obama is clearly going to pick either Joe Biden or some generic piece of boring wonder bread in Bayh or Kaine.

And who the hell cares who McCain picks? I don't believe he's going to pick a woman, he likes to tell dumb-ass sexist jokes too much for that. And I would love for him to pick dumb as a box of racks Mitt Romney, but he wants the job too much. He just might pick Mr. Bill in human form, Tim Pawlenty and he's boredom in a box.

I just wish they would get this bullshit over with. There is absolutely no suspense, just a highly anticipated letdown.

Professor Tracey's Review Of The Saddleback Church Forum On Faith

Last night I caught Joan Walsh from Salon.com twittering about the Forum on Faith and she had remarked that she was not sure why Barack Obama was there. Now, lately Joan Walsh has been getting on my nerves royally particularly on the subjects of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, racism, sexism, and white women in general, so I was totally surprised to find myself in complete agreement with her. I really had no idea at the program's conclusion of why Barack Obama agreed to participate in this forum.

I thought he was pandering to an audience that is NEVER going to vote for him. That event only helped McCain and did very little for Obama. Pastor Rick Warren was a so-so host and should have had a impartial moderator because he is CLEARLY anti-abortion, pro-Iraqi war, anti-gay marriage, and clearly Republican and pro-John McCain. And the overall forum was just so WHITE and that bothers mean greatly. And if Rick Warren cares about America so much, how could he present a forum that excluded so many Americans?

I didn't like the forum and I thought it was a major waste of time. And I am extremely uncomfortable with this ever-tightening connection of religion and politics. I don't want to watch politicians claim an undying faith, then tell bald-faced lies in the next breath. I think this makes fools out of people that truly believe, it's a mockery of religion and faith. For example, Reverend Kirbyjon Caldwell clearly points out the Christianity contradiction of John McCain making jokes about his wife entering a topless beauty contest at a biker rally and McCain's failure to condemn Jerome Corsi's racist and separatist book as something that American politics and the American people do not need is a major moral failure in my book.

Lastly, I realized how terrifying a John McCain presidency will be, one term or two. Second, I am getting bored with Obama's campaign, I would like to see a little more fire from him. I am beyond tired of "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner" black man presentation. Third, it is quite clear that this election is going to come down to whether or not a certain segment of white Americans will vote for a black man or not. Period! The issues will have nothing to do with it.

Update: I am even more convinced that Barack Obama wasted his time and that John McCain is unfit to be President. Apparently McCain cheated. The candidates were supposed to arrive early so that no one would know the questions in advance, but McCain did not arrive on time and there is major speculation that he knew the questions before he spoke. And he seems to be plagiarizing and over-embellishing again. McCain is just a liar, period!

Wall Street Journal reporter Amy Chozick has to be the current title holder for the dumbest story of the 2008 Presidential Election. Adding insult to injury is the fact that she made the story up by trolling Internet chat rooms for people to comment on the single question, "Does anyone out there think Barack Obama is too thin to be president? Anyone having a hard time relating to him and his "no excess body fat"? Please let me know. Thanks!" without identifying that she was a reporter writing a story. No ethics, no brains, is that all that is required to work for Rupert Murdoch?

Reason #1206 Not To Have John McCain As President Of The United States

I do not want a man as my president that needs to have his schedule "paced" in order for him not to feel that he is being ran "ragged." John McCain is too damn old to be president period. If you have to ease back your campaigning schedule, by not working on weekends, what in the hell are you going to do when you are the 24-7-365 President of the United States?

And considering that he hasn't bothered to vote in the Senate since April, when is he actually doing the job he got elected for? With all the fear mongering his campaign is doing, why isn't anyone wondering if he has the stamina to stand up to the rigors and duties of a U.S. President, if there was a serious terrorist attack or natural disaster that required him to travel around extensively and endlessly like Bush did during 9/11.

Obama Jumps Cause Right-Wing Massa Says Boo! Again!

Barack Obama crumbled and accepted the resignation of Jim Johnson, the head of his VP search committee. I am extremely disturbed that Obama is developing this habit of not sticking with his people because Right Wing Conservatives raise objections in the media. Reverend Wright was one thing, but this is a completely different thing. The job with Obama was unpaid for god sakes! No one Obama picks in the future to do anything for him will go without a background check and it will be highly unlikely that those individuals will be completely squeaky clean if they have EVER had any long-term connection to politics or big business.

Do the Republicans do this? When has Bush dropped anyone without the ENTIRE world screaming for the person to go and sometimes not even then. Brownie or Fredo ring a bell? Who's looking at McCain's advisor, Carly Fiorina? McCain didn't have to disavow Reverend Hagee or his connections to racist and sexist remarks by supporters. McCain had tons of lobbyists working on his campaign, he did not jump and start dumping people until after he secured the GOP nomination.

Obama needs to exhibit some fight when challenged. This campaign is going to be nasty. Pick your folks and stand by them! Fight for them. Don't let folks snap on your wife! This Mr. Nice Guy crap is only going to last so long. If Obama can't be tough, then he needs to find and I mean quick, a pitbull defender for his campaign! This catering to the media and the right wing is going to result in pissing off his established supporters. If you try to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one!

Hillary's Concession Speech

I thought Hillary Clinton's concession speech was pretty good, it would have been great if she had done the same speech last Tuesday. It was a strong and believable endorsement of Barack Obama for president. Clinton effectively reminded her supporters of the importance of ending the Republican reign and the importance of the Democratic ideals. She properly and passionately highlighted women's history in the United States and the sexism she faced during the campaign. And she did it without sounding like a victim. One of the most beautiful lines of her speech, which only women will truly understand was.......

"Although we weren't able to shatter that highest, hardest glass ceiling this time, thanks to you, it's got about 18 million cracks in it."

Let's hope her supporters remember that there is another woman that needs their support and attention!

Why White Political Folks Don't Get It And Why They May Not Ever Get It

If you watched the majority of the media coverage yesterday, you would have been hard pressed to learn that Barack Obama was ELECTED the Democratic presidential nominee. The first time in American History a black man wins the nomination and has a more than excellent chance of becoming President of the United States and the major news story of the day was how his LOSING opponent has decided by herself to be "open" to being his vice-president.

And white folks can't figure out why black people stay pissed and frustrated in and about America?

Not one media story on the history of black presidential candidates in American History, no discussion with important black figures about the impact of his historical achievement, no man on the street responses about the historic moment! Nothing! Do you actually believe that if Hillary Clinton had been the nominee that we would not have been subjected to every ancient suffragette from Geraldine Ferraro to Gloria Steinem?

And white folks can't figure out why black people stay pissed and frustrated in and about America?

And when the white pundits talked about Obama, it was just about all negative. His uplifting and empowering speech was fantasy and unbelievable. The killer one to me was folks bringing up the fact that he should have wrapped up the nomination weeks ago. WTH? Did these same folks forget that Hillary Clinton just would not leave and that Obama was advised not to push her out? And I love this "the race was over" rhetoric. As long as she keep running, the race was NEVER over! And the huge number of Clinton apologists that would not critique her failure to acknowledge the simple fact that Obama is the elected nominee. If the shoe was on the other foot, none of this behavior would have been acceptable from Barack Obama.

And white folks can't figure out why black people stay pissed and frustrated in and about America?

And not one white political pundit pointed out how racist it was that John McCain acted as if nearly 18 million people did not ELECT a black man to the Democratic presidential nomination. The very fact that he failed to acknowledge Barack Obama's historic moment does not bode well for John McCain and black people. It was more important to him to play politics than to appeal to black voters and celebrate this historic moment for black Americans.

Hillary Clinton Pulls A Lucy!

Hillary Clinton had a chance to exhibit some class, but as has been her habit, she failed miserably. She failed to concede anything and it seemed to take everything she had to barely compliment Obama and his campaign. She spoke as if she was the projected nominee when anyone in their right mind can clearly see that she lost badly! The super delegates clearly supported Obama. I cannot say I am shocked, but I am saddened that she just could not do the right thing!

The Road Back For Hillary Clinton

Tonight, Hillary Clinton has a golden opportunity. And I am truly hoping she takes full advantage of her moment in history. According to officials, Clinton will concede the Democratic presidential nomination to Barack Obama tonight. She will not officially end her campaign, but that's purely for political reasons, for her future negotiations with Obama. That will not trouble me one bit. Clinton received a lot of votes and has tremendous support, it may be too much bad blood now for the VP slot, but Obama better find something she wants. And I'm okay with that too.

She ran a great campaign, a tough campaign. Yes, she made mistakes and she did things that people didn't agree with. Like it or not, that's politics. She does not have to hang her head. She should strongly and happily celebrate what she has accomplished. Hillary Clinton has proved that a woman can run and possibly one day become President of the United States. She definitely needs to challenge the nation about its views about gender and leadership, but she needs to do it in a way that educates and empowers, not divides. I hope that is the message she choses to send to the world without any hint of conspiracy, double-dealings, or unfairness. No sour grapes, no gripes.

She needs to passionately and unquestioningly back Barack Obama's president campaign one hundred percent and she needs to strongly demand that her most staunchest supporters to do the same. She needs to remind everyone that the ulimate goal is to restore a Democrat to the White House.

And she may not be able to do it tonight, but she should most definitiely do it in the near future, she needs to call Michelle Obama. They have a lot more in common then people will admit, Clinton could help her avoid some of the mistakes she made in the 1990s. She could help prepare Michelle for a nation that demands a president have a spouse, as long as said spouse does not have any intelligence or ideas of her own.

A Sign Of Things To Come? - Obama Quits Trinity Church!

This is the kind of political decision that troubles me about Barack Obama. So, if white folks howl loud enough, he'll toss black folks under the bus. Obama quits one of the largest black churches in one of the largest black populated cities because of "controversial comments" made by two people, one, the now retired pastor and the other, a visiting pastor? By quiting the church, Obama has labelled and condemned the church and it's congregation as "controversial" forever!

When during all these years of Conservative Christianity has a white politician quit a church, religious organization, or religious leader? What white politician has quit the Moral Majority or dismissed James Dobson and his organization, Focus On The Family? Even after the Ted Haggard scandal, white politicians didn't quit those churches and organizations affiliated with Haggard. And Reverend Hagee has been not been savaged as hard as Reverend Wright has by the public or the media. And white politicians are still meeting with Hagee and enjoying his support.

This is a little beyond Barack Obama doing what it takes to become the nominee. This is a decision that is highly concerning. What message does this send to the hundreds of thousands of black people who support Obama, but will be sitting in churches just like Trinity United Church of Christ tomorrow morning?

Are theses the kind of decisions we can expect from President Obama? So, any time something happens with black people that challenges white people's idea of the world, he will be expected to denounce it or quit it? I think I'm gonna have to support brotha blogger Monroe Anderson on this mess. I feel really let down by Barack Obama on this one.

And something else that does not pass the smell test here. Obama claims to have not been aware of the controversial sermons. Then it seems to me that Obama and his family missed an awful lot of church in the past ten to fifteen years. I can't imagine his preacher was that different from Sunday to Sunday. i can't imagine he was never sitting in church when the pastor or a guest pastor picked fun at America or white folks. Doesn't seem believable to me.

Maybe this is why politicians better stop talking about how religious they are, because it doesn't seem to really hold true. If you believe Obama, he wasn't very active at a church he just quit on! It sounds like he painted a false image of himself and it came back to bite him.

DNC Makes A Solomon-Like Choice About Florida and Michigan

The DNC has decided for a half votes for the delegates of Florida and Michigan. Of course, Hillary and her peeps are not happy. What I find interesting is that I have yet to hear anyone from Florida or Michigan admitting that they jumped the gun early by throwing away their votes by moving their primaries up. What happened to the American way of accepting full responsibility for your decisions? If Hillary had stayed the front-runner they would not be complaining and folks in Florida and Michigan wouldn't give a damn that folks that live in later primary states like mine didn't get a chance to have their votes count! You move, you lose.
