David Shuster Is A Stupid Jerk!
MSNBC reporter David Shuster has been suspended for suggesting the Clinton campaign had "pimped out" 27-year old Chelsea Clinton by having her place phone calls to celebrities and Democratic Party "superdelegates" on the behalf of her mother's campaign. He even attempted to defend the comment with Clinton staffers.
I say good for MSNBC. Too many reporters have forgotten their actual place and have really stretched the boundaries. They may use that kind of language on ESPN, but not on the serious news channels. Reporters are also being asked their own personal opinions way too much particularly during this campaign. Chelsea Clinton is not doing anything other presidential candidates adult children have done in the past.
Could you imagine the uproar if the same comments had been made about Obama's two little girls? Chelsea Clinton is by far one of the most normal presidential children in American History. I have a lot of respect for her and her achievements considering how much of her life has been in the spotlight.
This is not just about Chelsea Clinton. David Shuster is on national tv referring to a grown-ass woman as "pimped out." Such sexist and stupid language should not be used in the 21st century. And if he can say this about Chelsea Clinton with all she has achieved, what in the hell do you think he says about women of color when nobody is looking or listening?

Shuster's comments were clearly inappropriate. I am however offended that Clinton seems not to understand the righteous anger that we as black women have over the negative images of us promoted through the likes of BET.
It seems that she is completely oblivious to the fact that we have had a struggle for years to stop this stuff from being aired, or she would not have the kind of relationship that she does with Bob Johnson. I recall him stating that they've been friends for over 20 years and used to vacation together in the Carribean. Learning this was a slap in the face.
She's telling us that she's not going to give up her frienship with him no matter what we say about him or what it means to us. On the other hand, maybe its just about somebody attacking her child which caused her to go into "mother-bear" mode and not that she cares more about young white women than she does young black women. Who knows. But I'm offended with her relationship to Johnson and her refusal to acknowledge that it causes alot of black women some concern.
That was inappropriate and not call for. I read an article that McCain made a ugly remark once about her daughter.
I think one of the problems with modern "journalism" is that pundits and the people delivering the news seem encouraged to be "personalities." They seem eager to inject flippant comments into in news and analysis. They seem eager to tell us what they think, when I really don't give a rat's ass what they think. Watch, if you can stomach it, one of the major morning shows on cable or network, you'll see what I mean. What happened to being unbiased?
I agree. I hate how journalists are considering the family members of politicians 'fair game' for defamation -- and it's ALWAYS the women that they seem to want to diss.
God knows that they'll say about Michelle Obama if Barack wins the presidency. We need to slap these people back in their place. These men can spew their crap in the privacy of their own homes, but shouldn't 'get that comfortable' with us on nation-wide television.
Chelsea Clinton made herself fair game by campaigning for her mother.
@cal Oh. So Obama's wife is fair game then, right? And if his children ever campaign for their dad, they are fair game to be called whores too right?
