We'll See It When It Gets To Theater If Ever News - Angelina Jolie Reportedly In Talks To Play Dr. Kay Scarpetta
I'm a big fan of these books, but I have always had shaky feeling about the author Patricia Cornwell. And for me, these books fall into the category of "don't make movies because you'll screw it up." Cornwell seems determined to have films made from these books. Years ago, she made a big deal about Jodi Foster possibly signing on and then Demi Moore actually bought rights to the first book, but nothing came from that. Jolie can get these books made into movies, but I'm not sure she's right for the part. Some books are best left alone.

Right now Hollywood is so craven for cash, it won;t matter. Angelina crapped up the whole Daniel Pearl story--why not Cornwell's stuff?
BTW, several years ago me (and an ex-girlfriend) were in Rehobeth, Del. leaving a bar and rolled up down the street from the biggest lesbian hangout off the boardwalk and out comes Cornwell with a youngish chick and a full entourage. Of course I asked her for an autograph and said I wanted to become a writer. She was cool, and talked, gave me some pointers, asked us where we stayed (Bethany Beach). Her entourage and girlfriend, however, were truly unpleasant, surly.
Gay man are MUCH friendlier. That's my take.
Ugh! Angelina Jolie is sooo not Kay Scarpetta. Why must they take a strong female character and Hollywoodify her. Scarpetta is a middle aged, everyday woman. Why can't she be that on the big screen?
I love the Scarpetta series. Like the Da Vanci code everyting will not translate into film. Although they did a great job with Harry Potter.
I have been waiting for a scarpetta film FOREVER. Jolie - Jodi, hell Angie harmon - just bringthis to life.- either one of them can pull this off. Demi - do not think so.
i just wish cornwell would write a little faster.
ANY SOMEONE CAN END UP HAPPY for more than 15 minutes, but them again in their world what is happiness...........
Foster would have been perfect for the role. I do not know, however, if she would have been willing to sign on to several "franchise" films. (See her reluctance to continue with Silence of the Lambs--though other factors were likely at play there.)
Jolie is absolutely NOT NOT NOT Scarpetta, no way, no how.
