A Brand New Hobby For White Men - Hating On Actress Gabourey Sidibe And Her Future

White men must be bored. Suddenly, a selection of white men are tripping all over themselves to declare Gabuorey Sidibe's acting career dead before it even really gets started. Ugly and hateful Howard Stern, who obviously knows an east target when he sees one, teed off on Ms. Sidibe in the most disgusting manner possible with a great deal of assistance from his long-time sidekick mammy, Robin "I was fat too, but don't talk about that now" Quivers.

Now, Howard Stern is Howard Stern. A cowardly jackass trying to remain important to the mainstream media after running off to private radio. I had completely forgot about his bitch ass and so had a lot of other people. And the VERY funny thing is that Howard Stern knows it. That's why he attacked Gabuorey Sidibe, he knew it would put him back in the spotlight for a few seconds.

The part that bothered me was how quickly random white male commenters felt the need to agree with him. Not to mention blogger/journalist Kevin Broccoli who bent over backwards to say that he didn't agree with Stern, but then proceeded to dismantle Gabuorey's career and character in the same fashion with kinder wording. Further, Broccoli went on to smash the careers of several other black actors without providing much context for why he thought the careers of these particular folks were considered faltering.

I just don't get it. Why are folks working sooooooooo hard to hate? Why can't they let Sidibe enjoy her whirlwind, fairytale year? Why does it matter to them if she has an acting career or not? If she chooses to lose weight or not, that's her business, not anyone else's. If she chooses to pursue acting or not, that's her business, not anyone else's. Also, since she has already landed a couple of new parts already, I think the question of her acting career not continuing has already been answered in her favor. And if acting doesn't work, she can go back and finish college. She can do anything she wants, she has worked hard and she has earned it. This young lady's future is quite bright.

Stop hating!

I always feel like the establishment is threatened when fresh air is blown into Hollywood. And this is exactly what Sidibe is.

Since she refuses to starve herself or lighten her skin color to play the game in Hollywood, people will try to paint her as an outcast who will never act again unless she conforms to her standards.

I hope she keeps doing what she does. Howard Stern and those other haters can suck on it:-)

You don't get it?

We are not what they want us to be, so they turn instead to fantasy, hoping against hope that their vile thoughts can become a reality so the white man can stand alone at the top of the heap again.

The white man has finally begun to realize he is an endangered species.

@BrownMan

Good point! We're sort of having this discussion SOMM concerning Torii Hunter's comments about Latin baseball players and the misunderstood backlash.

You know that folks get their panties in a bunch when they see someone that they already deem to be lower than themselves, have some type of success. It bothers them that she is receiving accliam for a role they can not understand or grasp so they question it and hate on it. They need to just grow up and shut-up.
