ohhhhhh wasn't it a sad day the day she died?
that was something....
i am not a fan of sci-fi- (i like them-but not as much as mysteries on the level of koontz)-- but my partner IS! and she loves her books!
i followed ms butler because she was a black woman writer and so outstanding in her visions.
wonderful choice...many blacks don't know that 'we' are talented-gifted-and anointed across the board in every area of living!
they do not know the past about 'US" , so they do not know the endless opportunities that we have taken hold of & turned into accomplishments--so they do not know how far they can go in their fields. they only see a fake deepness from the shallow desires for accomplishments that this world has to offer...
sad....
I've never heard of Octavia Butler. I'm gonna have to check her out. A black female sciece fiction writer. Cool!

I highly recommend Kindred. It's about a black woman in 1976 that gets sucked back in time to the days of slavery. It's an amazing book!!!!!
I love that quote!
