Professor Tracey Lays The Smackdown On Anyone That Didn't Like The Post On Greater Grace Church - Home Of The Infamous SUV Prayer Service

I have received several comments from folks who either are supporters or members of Greater Grace Church. For example, the following individual left three separate comments -

Praisewriter said.....

"How ignorant are you people! The word of God tells you to keep your mouth off of the prophet and God's people so you better watch it..."

"Further more, this church was praying for Kwame the entire time the scandal went down so talk about what you know. This church also prays for the school system every Sunday especially since school board members are prominent members at GGT, again, talk about what you know."

"To answer someone's question about the congregation, yes it is full of autoworkers...but even if it wasn't this is still the type of church that prays for all...you need to once again visit the ministry before you crucify it."

My response to Praisewriter and anyone one else that didn't like that particular post or the comments of my readers -

Praisewriter,

This is America. And America has freedom of speech. Just like your pastor had the freedom to put three SUVs on the pulpit, then prance, dance, sing, and pray over them like they were living beings with souls, I have the freedom to believe that this embarrassing and pointless act was one of the most egregiously stupid and outrageously sacrilegious spectacles I have ever seen a black preacher perform.

There was nothing wrong with the idea of praying for the auto industry to recover and to save the jobs of the thousands of auto workers in Detroit, but what was wrong with praying over and laying hands on the auto workers in your congregation instead of creating a complete media circus with expensive material items sitting in the pulpit like golden calves?

A real Prophet understands that the people, "the flock" should come first, not the disposable man-made products that have enticed many an individual to turn over their hard-earned silver and gold. How about praying for folks to stop buying automobiles they can't afford? Instead of praying over those SUVs, they should have been auctioned off as charity to raise money for the families of auto workers who have already been laid off. How many families could eat off the sales of three high-end hybrid SUVs? Quite a few I believe.

And in my book real "Prophets' seek no reward or attention for their prayers, they just do God's work. Your pastor alerted the media and willingly let this spectacle be televised across the country. This publicity stunt received numerous responses ranging from critical condemnation to incredulous bewilderment. Don't get mad at those that think what occurred at your church was ludicrous, dumb, materialistic, non-spiritual and unhelpful. Get mad at your pastor that created that public monstrosity of a performance in the first place. Otherwise, do what you did at the SUV prayer service, sit there and be quiet like a good sheep.

And I KNOW that a church that prayed for former Detroit Mayor Kwame "One Man Crime Spree" Kilpatrick, who is a convicted felon, serial adulterer, confirmed liar, bully, and abuser of public trust and political power, seriously needs to re-evaluate it's priorities and belief system. Why weren't you praying for the City of Detroit that has been used and abused under Kilpatrick's leadership? Why weren't you praying for the City of Detroit to find and elect a mayor that will not view the city as their personal playground for illegal graft, dishonest political practices, and personal debauchery?

And I KNOW how awful the school system is in Detroit. Why isn't your church praying for the students that attend the substandard schools in Detroit? Could it be that they don't pay tithes like "prominent" school board members, who are directly responsible for the sad state of the Detroit school system? Why aren't you praying for the teachers that have to teach in substandard schools with limited supplies or are the "prominent" school board members in your church deemed more important?

Lastly, the "word of God" also says to watch out for false Prophets. My pastor doesn't need elaborate staging with expensive props to make a spiritual point or prayer. He has the bible and his own eloquence to that. And what exactly do we have to "watch out" for? Is a hybrid SUV going to come falling out of the sky and crush anyone that doesn't think your pastor should have accepted and placed those SUVs in the pulpit in the first place?

You don't have to agree, accept, or like what I post on this blog! You have the freedom NOT to read it! You could have offered your side or version of events, but instead you came on this blog telling folks what to think, how to believe, and how to react to how a black church used its membership not in a SPIRITUAL WAY, but in a POLITICAL, ECONOMIC-BASED WAY.

And I'm sorry, but once the black church, any black church decides to involve itself in a manner that is moving far beyond the spiritual health and well-being of it's parishioners, I'm going to start asking questions and critiquing. We have thinking and thoughtful Christians over here on this blog, not unthinking followers.
