The Greatest Silence: Rape in the Congo. Filmmaker Lisa F. Jackson is getting great press coverage for her upcoming documentary about rape victims in the Congo. Ms. Jackson is giving rape survivors the opportunity to tell their stories, many for the first time. Please check out her website and this article. I know that several of us are boycotting cable television for political and economic reasons, so maybe some of us that have cable still, can organize viewing parties for the documentary. I imagine this film will be something not to watch alone anyway.

As many black women in America are becoming energized to take action to help prevent sexual assaults on black women and girls and to bring justice and assistance to those that have already been victimized, we must not forget about our sisters in Africa, who suffer in silence and continue to be victimized daily. For our Dunbar Village in Florida, there are equally and more horrific rape cases in the Congo.
