Tired Of Tiger

I am really tired of Tiger Woods shrugging off responsibility and issuing free passes to white folks that use racial slurs against him, particularly comments that are derogatory to black people, just because he can socially and economically afford to ignore racism.

Golf Channel commentator Kelly Tilghman is currently apologizing instead of packing her office and looking for a new job, after remarking during a telecast that today's young golfers should "lynch Tiger Woods in a back alley."

Of course, good ole Tiger readily accepted Miss Kelly's apology just like he did when Fuzzy Zoeller said at the 1997 Masters Tournament - "That little boy is driving well and he's putting well. He's doing everything it takes to win. So, you know what you guys do when he gets in here? You pat him on the back and say congratulations and enjoy it and tell him not to serve fried chicken next year. Got it." Zoeller then smiled, snapped his fingers, and walked away before turning and added, "or collard greens or whatever the hell they serve." Tiger was quoted as saying he thought Zoller's remarks were funny!!!

Are cartoons such as this funny to Tiger as well?

I'm not asking Tiger to be a race man, but would it kill him to just ONE time say racism is unacceptable and such word usage whether intentional of unintentional is flat-out wrong? Is that too much to ask?

Professor Tracey,

Tiger's not black, remember? He's caublasian.

My dear, didn't you know? Tiger Woods does not identify himself as black! I am cool with people claiming to be more than one race (actually my mom is biracial) but this cat has made it clear that he wants NUTHIN TO DO with anything black.

So homeboy isn't trying to act offended... because to do so would be to own up to a side of himself that he desperately wants to ignore.

now, see, i was not going to say a word on this...but after i copied it from here and emailed it across my address book--i have had a few moments to think on it.

i understand your thoughts prof tracey about the need for tiger himself to speak out about any 'inkling' of foul about this comment/conversation by kellygirl.
and you make a good point-i do feel that he may really not feel put off by it at all because of his upbringing by his father and mother.

or, he really is hurt by it and he is taking the high rode and waiting to see what everyone else does and says about it.

But, my thing is with kellygirl, and i don't like to segregate my friends into colors-it's a nonissue to me. but if a friend of mine that is not some part black says some off the wall mess with the word lynch in it....
in the name of Jesus, i would have to put them in their place as calmly as i would be able to do--and then i would really have to re-evaluate our friendship.
because truly, there would be an undercurrent of hoodwinking trying to be going on!

hummmm, me thinks mskellygirl may want (fill in the blank)_______________.

ok, let me not go into H.A.M. land.

but this stuff will not go away-we have to find better ways of getting past it. and getting stronger from it!

I'm with SheCodes on this, Tiger has disowned his Blackness.

My question is; does that mean has has disowned his late father as well?

ok see!
i wondered some of the same things about when it came to his father.
but his father would say that he was, i believe french creole. midwest-ark.?

well, it's his life...though kellygirl is wrong for saying it.

Since kellygirl was not the first, this undoubtedly will not be the last time this sort of thing happens.
These people will continue to make inflammatory remarks relating to Tiger Woods because he will continue to allow it.

Yes, Faith Evans' father is White (I read in Jet magazine years ago)

Dr. Tracey Salisbury January 11, 2008 at 1:45 AM

Before he passed, even Tiger's father was rejecting being black himself, so I guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree.

Faith's daddy is white? Wow! LOL!

If Tiger's friends are kidding him about lynching him in a back alley, who and where are his enemies?
