Calling All Sistas! - Your Voice And View Is Needed For The Women's History Month Blog Carnival!

I am really sick and tired of black women rejecting feminism and womanism as not for them, particularly when I watch those very same women go out and project the very principals they claim to reject. I am truly sick and tired of black women acting like we only have a voice during Black History month and that somehow Women's History month is for "other" women. And I am definitely sick and tired of black women complaining about white women and not doing anything practical to make white women be more aware and responsible to our positions as black women in American society. Sistas, we need to do better!!!!!!!

You have a golden opportunity to get your creative and powerful voice heard by participating in the Women's History Month Blog Carnival. Please check out the blog, What Tami Said for more details. Let's step up to the table, ladies! I am looking forward to reading and viewing all the submissions next month.

I agree completely. I tire of hearing black women denounce feminism and womanism out of some wrongheaded notion on their part of what the words mean and denote. I tire seeing black women surrender feminism, women's history, and the history of women's agitation over to white women. I am weary of sitting around listening to black women rage on and on about the evil of white women's racism but who find black men's sexism naughty but not evil.

i appreciate the observation with regards to womanism, as well as the annoyance of white supremacy committed white women. i don't believe however they need to be "educated". if we have a ton of patience that should be reserved for the men and women that reflect back to us our images. at a certain point you are responsible to learn the difference between right and wrong. i believe they should be respectfully, calmly adjusted in the moment, and we must learn how to deal with compassionately with the tears. they are coming...

...has anyone every read m. scott peck's "people of the lie"?

the magazine cover plays into sexist, eurocentric culture. why is she so scantily clad? is beautiful always half naked with straightened hair? and her hair buys into the notion that we must consistently engage in battle with our natural hair. imagery is powerful- it boosts or lowers self esteem. just my thoughts for what they are worth.

i appreciate your voice!!! i check in daily now. you have the ability to make me think, laugh, and raise my consciousness. thank you!
