Russell Simmons Endorses Obama

Hip Hop mogul has decided to endorse Barack Obama for President. Will this endorsement help in getting the hip hop generation to vote in the upcoming election?

No. Russell is not as important of a Hip Hop figure as he used to be. And many young rap listeners are not receptive to people who they don't see regularly on TV (i.e rappers). I know he drops in every now and then on Run's House, but he's not as visible as Jay, 50, Diddy, and Kanye.

I used to worry for this current generation of kids. A lot of them are apathetic for a number of reasons but there are a number of them who care about this upcoming election.

My friend told me that she overheard a group of young girls on the train who refer to themselves as "Bitches for Barack." SMFH, LOL! They were planning to go door to door to encourage people to get involved and vote and hand out leaflets. I applaud their activity but we've gotta work on the name.

i saw this...hummmm
guess the ones that are not in jail now, the ones that do not have a record, and the ones that are registered voters may be guided by the 'hip-hop mogul' to vote for him.....

Yes "Bs for B." The b-word is just like the n-word in that it's all used endearingly.

LOL at Pinky & WTM!

It's time for Russell Simmons to go the way of the dodo bird. He was big when my generation was in their teens and early 20's.

The clock has moved on and the mantle needs to be passed on as well. Although the needs are the same for Black people (better access to resources, education, crime prevention, etc), the makeup of the country has changed.

Better if Russell kept this to himself and donated $$ and time to the cause quietly. That would go over better.

Yo, this mixtape is going to be bananas. Check out J-Kwest on All Hip-Hop for the song "I Am Obama"

Peace
