am a black woman
tall as a cypress
strong
beyond all definition still
defying place
and time
and circumstance
assailed
impervious
indestructible

ohhhhhhhhi love mari evans!
i have all her books and just love her insightfulness! her way with words is uplifting!
she is one of the poets if would use in the classroom for our poetry projects.
thanks prof--not many people know about her life and her life's work!

she has truly been overlooked...so to speak.
