Love Him Or Hate Him - I'm Down With Reverend Al On This One!

Reverend Al Sharpton is vowing to shut NYC down until they deal with the Sean Bell murder case to his satisfaction. I'm with the Reverend this time and he's doing what he does best here. I really hope that federal charges will be filed against the police officers. Remember that California got the Rodney King case wrong the first time out as well.

We should all be supporting anyone that will step off the plate. We don't have to wait for Al Sharpton to fight our fights, thats the problem with the black cities now, no one takes a stand until the big names come in. The city blacks should have sat their asses on the steps so no one will leave the court house. Justice is not justice if there is no force behind it. Marching and boycotts will let the department and the city know that WE MEAN BUSINESS. Here we are 2008 still fighting the fight that our forefathers fought, whos winning whos winning. Hell half of the blacks will forget this as soon as some bulls#$% reality show comes on. Media has screwed the minds, no rest for the city, till the All Mighty has seen the call, stop in the name, stop in the name. Its time for a revolution, bring out the tea kettle. Sharpton needs to stay and get the business straight, you cant love everything, you got to show a little hate.

Its gonna be BEDLAM

Me, my BF, and my friend are planning to take the day off from work to participate.

Just to play devil's advocate, why aren't we doing the same things for black on black crime?

We get ENRAGED and full of righteous indignation when it comes to police officers (symbol of white opression regardless of the colors of the officers) killin unarmed black men, but we do NOTHING when we do it to ourselves.

We can march and protest all me want, but until black folks start giving a fuck about black folks lives this stuff will always happen.

Now my reaction to the Bell Verdict:

NYPD is uber-fucked up. This shit makes me sad and fearful for what may happen if I'm ever unlucky enough to be detained by NYPD.

Not to sound like a black male apologist (nor to minimize what black women are put through), but sometimes being a black man is so damn hard.

If unarmed, law-abiding citizens (remember Diallo) can be justifiably killed by police officers who claim deadly force was necessary, how can anyone possibly feel safe?

I have to agree with blkSeagoat with this one. It is a horrible thing that happened to Sean Bell, and NOBODY deserves that.

However, innocent black folk are getting slain every day in our cities by drug dealers and gangstas, and NOBODY gets mad at them.
