WNBA's Detroit Shock Achieves Equality With The NBA's Detroit Pistons With Their Own Game-Ending Brawl
Suspensions and fines should be coming to both the WNBA's L.A. Sparks and Detroit Shock, for the game-ending brawl that occurred last night. Both teams had players and coaches leave the bench in other to get involved or stop the melee on the court. Rookie star Candace Parker and Detroit Shock assistant coach Rick Mahorn where among the players and coaches tossed from the game.
The Sparks won the game, but both teams, former WNBA champions, lost in terms of public relations. This is a black eye for the WNBA, which had fights before, but nothing like this. WNBA officials need to crackdown on everyone involved and hard. This is one thing that female professional athletes do not need to copy from their male counterparts.

I think they'd all be better off, and the WNBA would do much better if they'd not only stop trying to ACT like dudes, but if they stopped dressing like them as well. After being a lifelong NBA fan, I stopped watching the game in the early nineties when it went 'thug life.' If I want to look at a bunch of thugs play basketball I can go to any street corner.
it was a great game, but an ugly brawl there at the end. there's plenty of blame 2 go around on both sides, including the officals. lots of tension on both sides.
i'm not a huge fan of detroit, bu i hate 2 c detroit made out 2 b the thugs and lisa and candace made out 2 b innocent ladies. athletes have a lot of attitude, especially those down in the low post where things are likely 2 b physical.
i've been sitting here all morning asking myself whether the horror i felt as i watched was because it was women atheletes caught brawling, or whether i'm opposed to public brawls period. i expect it in the men's game and see it as a hazard of the game in tough competitions and when passions are high. i certainly don't c last night's brawl as a black eye on the wnba, but i understand those who do c it that way. fights happen from time to time. however, i wouldn't want 2 c fights become commonplace in the game.
Professor Tracey I think you are being too kind. You left out the reprehensible actions with his viscious push down of Lisa Leslie during the brawl. That punk a** should be suspended for the rest of the season and fined a heavy amount. There is no excuse for this. Laimbeer is simply trying to mold these players into the thug he has when he played for the Pistons.
I was just telling a friend last week that the WNBA is so boring they need to start fighting. The sad part is, just like the NBA, these suckas act all bad and can't fight to save their lives, because in the back of their minds no one wants to lose endorsements or a job. So stop trying to act all big and bad.
Also, what is going on in Inglewood? I thought Inglewood was supposed to be all hood. First, Paul Pierce panics when he hears his little knee pop and then needs a damn wheel chair to leave the court, and now Lisa Leslie is crying because Rick Mahorn pushed her to the ground. They are embarrassing 'The Wood'. Have they been gone that long? Or is it all for show?
It'll be interesting to see what suspensions are given. I think CP3 deserves a one game, for being aggressive on the rebound, I think she had every right to push the chick charging at her, because she doesn't know what psycho girl is going to do to her and that is just a normal reaction. Also, what was she supposed to do? Lay on the ground and let the chick stand over her acting a fool, and let her sweat and booty juice drip on her lip? The chick that charged her deserves a three game suspension, after all she didn't really do anything but try and look tough, and injure the Ford girl, and I think Rick Mahorn should be given five games. Like Lisa said he should have rushed and pushed his own players.
I loved every minute of this. lol. I think they should be able to walk over to the scorer's table, press a bell and then they can choose who they want to fight and the loser like in hockey has to sit for a few minutes. LOL! I wouldn't miss a game! Of course, since Negro's are involved I expect a lot more punishment. To me this wasn't even close to a brawl.
My heart almost skipped a beat when i saw Candace Parker fall to the court. Seriously.
And I wonder what made Rick Mahorn shove Lisa Leslie to the floor like that. I had to watch the replay over and over again because something inside of me didn't want to believe that I saw what I thought I saw.
It turns out my eyes didn't fail me, that time. Shocking and unfortunate turn of events for the WNBA.
