"IF you are in a room full of white people and me. I don't make it diverse." - Black Amazon, Sista Blogger
I first saw this quote on WOC, PhD and I have not been able to let it go. Check out Black Amazon's blog, Having Read The Fine Print.

LOve the pic, love the words. Thanks, Prof. Tracey.
lololo
hey prof....
i feel the same way and i have been in those rooms many times!
but i'm laughing because the thought came to my mind that i don't make it diverse as a lot of people think i'm a white women at first glance! lololo
so it might take them a moment to see clearly--usually after i start speaking--i'm sure they go--ohhh noo she black!! hahaaaa
i don't think i look like a white women--but i often get mistaken for them or people start speaking some form of spanish or portuguese to me...and honey i'm clueless to what they are saying.
but i do know what she is talking about. and let me ask you this...
is diversity just for a moment--til the meeting is over? or is it all the time?
does everything have to have diversity in it?
should black people think about it as we most times mingle and hang out in all black groups?
should an all black function also be diverse? (multi-shades of black people don't count) :D
just some thoughts...
Her blog and Brownfemipower are 2 must-read blogs. Well I'll throw in racialicious as well.
I went to a high-profile blogger conference where there were 20 Black people out of 2000+ and the organizers want to act all offended about being called on the lack of diversity. "Of course PoC can attend, nobody's stopping you." is the general attitude. I'm glad Gina McCauley started Blogging While Brown.
Yeah, Black Amazon is an amazing writer. I also agree with Faith about BrownFemiPower too. They are must reads.
Thank you
I'm honored
