Coming Someday This Week On ABC News World News Tonight - Charles "Grand Pappy" Gibson Versus Sarah "Toothless Baracuda" Palin
Update: After I published the post below, it was revealed that Palin will be able to see the questions that Gibson will ask in advance and she will be able to decide which questions she wishes to answer or not answer. This is not an interview in my book, it's a visual book report on the candidate for vice-president.
Let's see if Charles Gibson actually shows why on God's green earth that he is worthy of being paid a mouth-dropping 8 million dollars a year to serve as the lead journalist on ABC's World News Tonight. He has been picked as the first "real" journalist to conduct GOP VP pick Sarah Palin's first "serious" sit-down interview since her candidacy was announced.
I can guarantee that Palin will be well-prepped, well-rehearsed, and well-trained by the time this interview occurs, but hopefully Gibson will ask challenging questions that require her to exhibit some independent thought instead of the Pavlov dogs responses she will be well-conditioned to answer from her GOP handlers.
Truth be told, this interview will still be a well-manipulated dog and pony show for Palin. I will be shocked if this interview occurs before "dump it on Friday " evening, when the world is focusing on the start of the weekend and isn't paying attention to the news. Also WNT is only a half-hour program and unless they are willing to devote the entire half-hour to Palin, there is only going to be time for a bunch a bullshit sound bites from Palin anyway and that's not a real in-depth interview.
So, until Palin sits down at length on Meet The Press, Face The Nation, or This Week or agrees to an intensive interview with the New York Times, Newsweek, or Time, she might as well stay in Alaska and eat moose burgers. If I want to hear recycled GOP smears, lies, and empty promises, I will you-tube her GOP convention speech or I will just listen to her partner in crime, John "I'm Older Than The Cryptkeeper, Dammit!" McCain.

No Gibson tried his best to undermine Obama during the last debate with Clinton. Gibson will not show the same single minded determination to uncover the truth regarding Mrs. Palin
I wrote Charlie and reminded him of his obligation as a journalist to speak truth to power. I think we should all send an email to ABC News telling them that we expect them to ask REAL questions of Palin and treat her as they would any VP party nominee.
