"The Master's Tools Will Never Dismantle The Master's House" - Audre Lorde
Can't be a hater here. Zoe Saldana is killing this poster! Nichelle Nichols will always be my Uhura, but Ms. Saldana might just fit the bill for the next generation of Star Trek lovers.

Oh, I do hope her character isn't hypersexualized, bimboed-up, and made helpless, all to placate the pathetic fantasies and oh so frail egos of the teenage boys and manchildren in the audience. My optimistic side tells me to keep hoping that this rendition of Uhura will be like Sanaa Lathan's character in the first Aliens v. Predator film. But then I remember that Hollywood is run by [white] manchildren. Sigh, I'll just have to wait and see.

Well said! I agree. J.J. Abrams doesn't have a great history with his female characters of color.
This is a pretty awesome poster, but I can't help but agree. Please I hope she has a good role in this; I'd hate to see them botch Uhura the way they did Halle Berry's Storm...

::hisses:: Angela Bassett should have been cast as Storm.
And some people were thinking they fantasize about space to get away from everyone else. I'm still surprised they even want us up in space with em.
You know I was actually stunned by they way they portrayed Angela Bassett's character in Supernova. (it's a shame you have to even think like that). I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I must be tired because at first glance I thought that was Beyonce. Oops
Never heard of the girl but she's hot!
Hopefully she WILL be like Sanaa Lathan in AVP.
I was hoping a different actress would be cast to play Uhura but oh well. At least they didn't go with Rosario Dawson.
