NBC Puts The Final Nail In The Coffin Of Meet The Press By Naming David "Fozzy Bear" Gregory As It's New Moderator

I can't stand David Gregory. He is a horrible choice for Meet The Press. The only possible consolation here is if he is going to quit doing his absolutely terrible nightly evening show, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

So true to true. I barfed a little bit when I found out. The only consolation is that Mrs. Greenspan didn't get it. Gwen Ifill was robbed!!!!! White male affirmative action strikes again!

Yeah, this is going to suck. Gwen was definitely robbed.

I hope they are tossing this out there as a test to see how it is accepted. He is the most bland, basic level reporter. He will definitely have to step up his game to keep from making MTP a normal stop on the spin tour where guests get to glide with ease spouting talking points.

Didn't he dye his hair to try and match anderson cooper? He was not they gray/brown 3 years ago.

Russert IS unreplacable politics made this man happy - not the right side - not the left side - but the business of politics and you noticed this. He truly LIKED HIS JOB.

I would have been more happy with PBS's Bill Moyer............or someone at NBC that we have not seen on a nightly basis...Since all the Newspapers aremaking cuts - there has to be some out of work political newsman out of work that actually liks politics

1) I personally wasn't all crazy about Tim Russert; to my mind, he wasn't all that, and I got sick of his "gotcha" questions.

2) So David "Does The Punishment Fit the Crime?" Gregory got the slot.

I'm not surprised.

What, you thought Gwen Ifill was going to get it?

Silly wabbit.

Dr. Tracey Salisbury December 2, 2008 at 10:33 AM

@Admiral Komack,

I didn't think Gwen Ifill actually had a shot at the job, what bugs me is David Gregory's current show is a disaster and he gets rewarded with the anchor slot on one of the biggest shows on news TV? You never see this kind of investment into journalists of color.

It's Tucker Carlson all over again. How much you wanna bet Carlson gets another shot at a show?

I don't think he'll have it for long. He's boring and very bland in his commentary. He sucks when he fills in on the wkend evening news segments...and no matter how he tries he doesn't inspire me to want to listen to him. I'm stuck because I'm a fan of Meet the Press...we'll see.

Prof,

Now the show is really going to suck! I wasn't sure Brokaw was on temporarily. do you think Gwen Ifill had a legit shot or that they were just acting like they were interviewing a "minority canidate?"

Christopher Chambers December 2, 2008 at 5:23 PM

This, like Luke, is the new paradigm of infotainment, of dullards in the media put up to "relate" rather than uplift the dullards out there in the audience.

This is bigger than black and white. It's the de-evolution of journalism...

No black peson was ever considered ...period.

We all know NBC likes rehashing dead things/shows/people.........

Admiral Komack December 3, 2008 at 11:27 AM

@Professor Tracey:

I don't disagree with anything you said.

I had enough of Gregory when Don Imus got canned and Gregory was pissed.

Gregory asked one of his guests "Does the punishment fit the crime?"

Hey, I guess dancing with Rove helps when you want the big job.

We both know Tucker Carlson WILL get another job, that is if MSNBC doesn't give it to Luke Russert first.
