This should win the time slot, but unfortunately VH1 has something degrading on and that will have more viewers.

Sorry Auntie but the ambivalence is killing me. Ben Carson is a genius and he rose from very hard circumstances. But he is also a smarmy, self aggrandizing, God complex right wing black man who hones surgical hands on Third World guinea pigs whom Hopkins flies in for him to slice and dice. All legal due to those release forms! I grew up in Balto in the thick of the medical community, and that's the consensus. Soemtimes hating isn't hating. Sometimes it's the ugly truth!
Still, there is the BET, VH1 thing counterbalancing this.

Likewise, it's good to see Cuba doing something of quality, yet Cuba jumped the shark a long time ago. But white folks still in Peoria love him...

So I must say as I flip the ambivalence coin I won;t be watching this. Sorry.

I love Dr. Carsons story, too bad Cuba is playing him though.

I'll tune in if I remember.

Christopher,

Pratically any person who can actually get the USMLE scores to complete a surgery residence AND possesses the skills to actually practice as a surgeon, is self-aggrandizing and suffers from the God complex.

I had no idea that he perfected his techniques on subjects from developing nations, but I can't say that I am surprised. The US gov't and WHO have been doing this kind of shit in the name of medical progress for the West for years.

How else would one expect a surgeon to become proficient at their craft if they don't have real people to practice on?

I realize that some of the test subjects may have been solicited for volunteering. Further, I also belive (read know) that some were allowed to volunteer without full disclosure of risk.
