I Love North Carolina!

I just got back from a wonderful few days in North Carolina. I just love the place. It hurt to leave it.

“In my mind I’m going to Carolina.” James Taylor

My family is originally from North Carolina. My mother currently lives in the house and on the land that has been in my family for over seven generations. The house has had the same phone number for over fifty years. As a kid I spent almost every summer there visiting my great grandmother.

The city has seen the rise of a movie industry, development of coastal areas and sadly the decline of working class African-American community. With all of that said, North Carolina and the city of Wilmington will always have a special place in my heart.

Heeeyyy sister PT!!
guurll it is 77 degrees right now here in NC!
lolo
it has been a beautiful last 3 or 4 days!
And i am very grateful for this small taste of what is to come from God.

it is still winter no doubt. though the flowers are coming up and some of blooming--the dogwoods have their colorful blooms & the magnolias are bright ready to pop open! just beautiful it is.

It was so warm yesterday i was VERY tempted to take the roof off the jeep and go for a ride! though i did not--it is also still flu season here--so i just washed the jeeps and took a ride with the windows down!
LOVING IT!

now, lol, on thursday it's going back down in the 40's with cold rain and cold!
but that is still good--we can use the rain!

I am glad that you EnJoyed your visit to NC.

that is a beautiful photo of the mountains here!
I LOVE the SPRING SEASON!

@givepeace,
ahhhh i bet i know what part of wilmington your people live on.
That is a blessing that they have held on to the homeplace for that many years!

that is very good that their land was not 'stolen' from them during the riots there way back when! (not really that long ago)

it is beautiful on the coast!
i think this year we will take the girls to wilmington for a few days.

You still gotta keep your ears and eyes open, some people still think they "own' everything and that they can treat people anyway they want to.

always trying to 'slide' in some racism, youknow.
Come near me i'll clip it with some TRUTH!
lol

I was speaking in Winston Salem, NC this weekend and remember thinking to myself, "gosh, it's so beautiful here."

I'm in a military community out here North Carolina and there's hardly a sign of a recession. It got up around the the 80's today.

Yoo-hoo!
