John Hope Franklin - 1915-2009

Due to the fact that the professor who taught me African American history as a doctoral student was a student and colleague of the great historian, John Hope Franklin, I had the great pleasure of meeting this wonderful man several times. He was generous, funny, and sharp as a tack. He will be missed and should be remembered his outstanding body of work.

I am saddened but i'm even More Overjoyed that He is finally Home and will see his wife!

It is going to be 'jammed packed' in durham!

those are some great pics that you posted.

I'm so Glad that He allowed God to use Him. Such a humble hearted man.

He will certainly be missed. I have read several of his scholarly works. He was an erudite, thoughtful and stimulating historian. He certainly left a wonderful body of work.

A brilliant scholar who will sorely be missed. His was the first book I read on African American history in college. I had also never seen that picture of him in the greenhouse before. Thank you for posting this.
