Much Ado About Nothing - The "Tween" Update Of Dora The Explorer Is Cute!

Damn, what's the big deal about Dora's new look?

As long as it's the look of her growing up then it's fine. I was happy when they gave Strawberry Shortcake a makeover after years.

I don't think it's bad but she no longer looks like a preschooler. Now she's a tween. As a parent of 5 girls, ages 10-25, they grow up soon enough. But in todays' society there is so much stimulation out there that exposes young children to the ways of the world, I'm not sure it will really make a difference. These same girls are following the "Cheetah girls", "Bratz", "Hannah Montana", "Highschool Musical', etc. There's no stoping it now. If parents don't want it, don't uy it.

@Kim -

LOL! It was the makeover of Lil' SS I thought of too. I waited years for the Scooby Doo crew to get some new duds too.

Cinco -

You are so right, but the over-reaction to this update is crazy.

I thought Dora was only a craze outside of the USA. (Also recently found out another world wide craze is those pointy pointy shoes.)

My son is almost five and we watch cartoons together. I liked Dora because she was one of the few cartoons with a little girl who LOOKS like a little girl. Why can't little girls be little girls? I don't see this rush to have little boys "grow up". Where's the grown up Diego? I think it's kinda twisted the way boys are always boys, but girls have to be women. I'm just amazed they didn't give her boobs.

Dora's new look is cute but I agree with roslyn, why can't little girls just be little girls? The creators said that they wanted Dora to grow with your child, ok then. Give her a little height or something, but aging her to puberty? Idk. Thank God they didn't turn her into one of those Bratz dolls.

As long as she is not dressed up like one of them "Bratz" dolls, I couldn't care less.

Oh lord lest not talk about those Bratz dolls! XD

the little girl has on lipstick... that's enough reason to be weary of this "make-over"...
