I'm from Gadsden, which is only about 30 minutes from Hobson city. That entire area is on the decline and have been for quite some time. Anniston which is the closest city to Hobson City lost Ft. McClellan and a couple of chemical plants. Gadsden lost the entire steel industry and the largest Goodyear plant in the world. I doubt any of that area will ever come back. Back in the 90s Hobson City was best known for having one of the highest HIV+ rates in the state. I don't know if that's still true or not. It's a shame. It's a beautiful area with mountains and rivers. It would be a fabulous place to raise children, unfortunately, there are no jobs at all.
