may i add/turn-a-round your comment 'anonymiss'= "the xenophobic thinking of SOME Americans that are foolish Americans."

And not all immigrants are worthy to be here in the land of the free. no matter where they hail from.
some come with the wrong attitude and outlook toward black americans. And toward America.

i have some issues with the American govt.and with some of the American people-- but i would not trade America for any other place. It is Great here. yes, it is 'jacked-up'
in many regards, but it is a Great Place!

Be careful how broad you paint with your brush.

Hate cannot get rid of hate!

i do love the cartoon-The First Nation of People, have the right to look at MANY groups of people this way, that arrived here through out the times with the Motive of 'taking over the world'.

I, too have family that desperately want to come here (I am an immigrant) but I think that suddenly gaining millions of new citizens -- especially very poor ones -- is pure insanity.

Citizenship is more than being able to vote and get a driver's license. It makes you eligible for lifelong welfare, medicaid, social security, government programs, and a host of state and federally funded aid.

America is in a desperate financial state, and can't afford to take care of the the poor that it has already existing.

The fear of 'taking jobs' is only 'xenophobia' to people who aren't in danger of losing theirs.

I completely believe in immigration. However, creating MASS ASYLUM is not the same thing as immigration... which is what people are calling for right now.

I wasn't suggesting that all Americans were foolish. I'm American-born so I'd be including myself in the equation. And I type the way I speak which isn't PC the majority of the time & shouldn't be taken literally. You ladies don't know me personally and it was irresponsible on my part to type as though you do.

When I was typing that post, I did consider using "some" but I felt "these" would suggest that I wasn't making a generalization. My bad for that.

And I can respect the argument about how a large influx of immigrants wouldn't necessarily help our country. The DREAM Act is a bad idea. I just don't accept the vilification that some underpaid Mexican dish washer or underpaid Mexican nanny or the day laborer at Home Depot moving your furniture are receiving.

The media does a poor job of implicating the real culprits of this problem.
