Meet Lawrence Alvin Lovette Jr.. He is just 17 years old. I didn't post his picture this morning in relation to the Eve Carson murder case because I had hoped he was just a teenager in the wrong place at the wrong time. My hopes got dashed about an hour ago. This young man has not only be charged in the Eve Carson murder, he has also been charged in the murder of a Duke University graduate student.
Lovette has been charged with this second murder along with Stephen Lavance Oates, age 19. Their murder victim, Abhijit Mahato was only 29 years old. He was robbed of his life, $200, his wallet and his cell phone. Oates is currently being held without bond on charges of murder and of robbing 18 people. I wonder how long it will be before Reverend Al Sharpton will be down in North Carolina talking about the "unfair treatment" of these upstanding young citizens.
The truly scary part is that even if this guys get convicted and receive long prison sentences, they are young enough to be released at an age still quite capable of inflicting violence on average citizens in the future. Remember that the main suspect in the Lester Street murder case served a fourteen year prison sentence for second degree murder starting at 19, only to become a mass murderer at 33.

i don't usually go with the death penalty--but you know-- i sometimes feel that there are some people that jsut do not deserve to live--i'll not start with the senseless killings in all of africa-and then move on to the usa killings!
using my tax $ to feed and house these demons! i don't think they will last long in prison! maybe they will be put in one not in NC, still will be my tax $ paying for their demon azzes!

This is depressing. Where are their parents? Something was definitely screwed up in their rearing.
I live in Durham and all I can say is.............. "another stain on the DURHAM name........... he did not kill one person but 2. baby face killer.........errrrrrr

What dummies they are robbing college students who were probably broke. When I was in college if you stole my ATM card there would have been no $300 or $400 for you to take out, on a bad day you might not have been able to take out a $20 -Insufficient funds
rumor has it that the 17 year old's adopted father past and after that he went koo koo. Now one kid and Durham has a suspect for 2 murders..errrrrrrr well unlike usual - the Durham PO PO finally caught someone. Good thing they are being charged in Chapel Hill........ we have still not recovered form the Nifong fiascio.........
chile, i have got to tell you'all the truth that i just found out about these killers. i got a few calls from former students and former co-workers today as all the detials are coming out--i thought these boys looked familiar--how about they went to the school i worked at/retired from.....
i know there is another one nicknamed '50cent'--played a little football when he was there. these boys are related-brothers, cousins and there is a sister also.
they stayed a hot minute at the school--trouble makers on a large scale. i don't remember many details about them as they were not there long- but long enough to always be in trouble for igonorant, stupid stuff.
i was told that word is
'50', was involved in all the robberies and the killingS in some ways.
one of my former students said that one or 2 of them were in one of my classes, they didn't stay long--i put them out!
can't behave-you gotta go!
i do not remember them--teaching 200 kids every 2 days does that to you.

lol, that's funny-the first thing that came to me is the real reason they got caught was the tip that the dpd rec'ed. the $25,000 was the impetus for that call being made.
i betcha, it was made by a family member or a girlfriend or a girlfriends family member.
