Thought I'd mosey on over and check out today's "words for warfare" column over at one of my favorite blogs, only to find me staring back at me.

I wrote that line over twenty years ago, and it continues to be true today as I observe the many un-mothered and under-mothered young women I run across in my work. I am grateful to my mother who managed, despite her own pain, to steady herself long enough for me to ride across to safety.
