Black Men And Their Secrets - Senator Edward Brooke

Whenever I hear black men getting all hot and bothered over less than 1% of black women "thinking" or "actually" dating white men, I always remember their complete silence about black men tippin' with white women, particularly high profile black men. Now Barbara Walters, who doesn't need another dime or one more ounce of fame, is confessing to a long term affair with the first black man to be elected to the U.S. senate, Edward Brooke. I find this revelation not only disappointing, but disgusting! Black folk were catching hell when this dude was in office and he's sneaking around with Barbara Wah-Wah?

I don't give a damn who black men date or prefer, but it burns me up that black men want their cake and eat it too. Cheating on your wife with any woman, black or white is a damn problem, but black men that want to whine about racism and how hard it is to be a black man in America, but want to sneak around with white women bugs the hell out of me. Juanita Jordan earned every dime of her divorce settlement considering how MJ embarrassed the hell out of her for years with that Karla Knafel character.

Not to mention Charles Barkley appearing in photos like this and refering to himself as a "nigga" while being married to a white woman. If you want the white woman, take the heat that goes with it, out in the open and stop whining about racism. You're a pretty free black man in this country if you feel empowered enough to jump into bed with a white women.

i pray they all get their acts together for the sake of those they fathered and those that admire them--look up to them and emulate them because of their skills on the court--be it with a basketball or the laws of this country.

but u right! they need to stop whinning -- do and be.

Prof. Tracey,
You done got me riled up, LOL! It's very sexist and selfish behavior. I especially hate it when some Black men tell Black women that

1. "No one else will appreciate your beauty the way a brotha can" - Yeah. OK. That's why most video vixens and pinup girls don't look like Kenya Moore or Leela James, right? That's why bleaching cream was so damned popular in Nigeria, right? That's why most Black people prefer hair that is fried (maybe dyed) and laid to the side, right?

2. "That White man only wants you for sex." So there aren't any Black men that want me for the same reason, right?

3. "That White man won't understand you the way a Black man can." I think that's such nonsense.

I grew up with bicultural kids of Middle Eastern and Latin descent and they understood me very well. When high school rolled around, me and my Black classmates were "acting White" according to the other Black kids because we were in the honors program and "talked proper."

I can list more idiotic statements, but it'd be the length of a full blog post.

What about the ex-senator's family? Sometimes it's not "all about you." (Hey did Whitney say that? - LOL)

The term "interviewing heads of State" has taken on new meaning with me for Barbara Wa- Wa.

Honestly this makes me mad. I am so sick of people saying yeah bm can be with white women and still be down. I don't think so choose a side.

@ Page,
LOL!!!

@ RockNRollSista,
Why can't you still be down? There are BM/BW relationships where neither party is down for the cause.

I am really tired of all the confessionals about "old mess". Take it to the Lord in prayer or your priest, whichever you prefer, and leave it there. Sigh.

Sidebar: Charles Barkley is married to a white women??? Where have I been???

AttorneyMom-

not only is barkley married to a white woman, and thinks black women smell funny, he couldn't live with his white woman, so annoying was she; he bought her a house next door or down the street from his. now brotha...if you are gonna do all that...

all i can say to the rest is, speak! i am starting to think that birth of a nation was onto something. it is embaressing to see that bedding the daughter (or son) of the oppressor is better than freedom and self determination. refuting claims of dumbness sometimes becomes a challenge. i am fully committed though:-)

BlkSeagoat--i agree with your assessment. i have quite a few gay friends, male and female. some of them, like straight folks, act like securing an interracial relationship with non black people is a major accomplishment. with a white person, omg! only the lottery would be better. i have noticed this not only with blacks. there was one brother that i had to cut loose. not only did he prefer white men, he routinely had something bad to say about black men. this is convenient and annoying when one is able to overlook and forgive so much of white folks. it is ironic when for so long there have been so many complaints about the man having his foot in ones' behind. ok, i just cracked myself up! now, i am getting right together:-)

blessings all,

all the colors in the box get along! lololo

blkseagoat--HERE-HERE!!
well spoken!

i agree and i also have no problem with what color skin dates what color skin--i do not care for sneaky freaky married folks. i have told a few--i am not an al la carte item!!

though i would probably not be married straight or gay--it just does not appeal to me--and being that laws don't allow marriage for my relationship--and i'm not pushing for them--i strongly beleive that whoever you are with--be honest and true--be with them and them only. gay, straight, polka dot--blue stripes! Love the one you are in a relationship with--OR get out of it--don't do people wrong--that is just stank!

Hi there! {waves}

It is puzzling to me WHY Barbara Walters - who is so guarded about her personal life - would discuss her romantic life1

I am not sure why people are so shocked that Barbara would be with a black man - white men were absolutely HORRIFIED by her and intimidated by her intelligence!

As for Charles Barkley...well... he is who he is....he has never tried to present himself as a progressive, intelligent, educated....you get the point...*LOL*

I am a whoopi fan so I DVR the 1st 30 min of the show - Barbara WA-WA has been telling a lot of her business lately. By the way the show is better when she is not on there - as she tends to TALK OVER everyone -( but its her show- hahaha) how old is she - she may have just hit the age of "I don't give a f@#$%^&$%^&"

people are people - you love you you love, its is honest then its ok. If is for a trophy no mater the casue or reson then it is crazy and built on LIESSSSSSSS and dilusion(sp)
