New NAACP National President Selected
It may be a case of too little, too late, but the NAACP has finally selected a national president under the age of 40. Ben Jealous is going to have a tough time changing the image of the NAACP as an organization dominated by black folks way over fifty and it's out-of-touch civil rights era leadership. Not to mention the dwindling finances of the NAACP. I wish him the best of luck. I will be keeeping an eye on his reign at the NAACP.

Hello Professor!
I hope that Mr. Jealous (and perhaps he may want to consider using his middle name as his last name now that he's in the national spotflight) will be an asset to the process of reviving the N.A.A.C.P.!
For many Gen-Xers, the N.A.A.C.P. has an image of being run by pre-nursing home admittees who have noooo clue how to relate to the black constituents that they are supposed to represent nationally. N.A.A.C.P. has attracted old-guard, H.B.C.U.-devotees, who don't have the level of influence in the communities that they are operating in to garner broad base support in the black community that results in increased membership locally and energized activism.
Mr. Jealous has a lot of work to do in changing the perceptions that many have of the N.A.A.C.P. because just having a new face in the Office of the President is not enough.
Peace, blessings and DUNAMIS!
Lisa
