Words For Warfare

"We say we want something different from our cinema ... I'm not saying 'Eve's Bayou' is the answer, you know, because some people will like it and some people won't. But I think it is one of the answers. ... I wanted to create a piece that was visual and lyrical with characters speaking in the rhythms that I remember from my childhood. - Kasi Lemmons

One of my favorite movies. I wonder what other amazing projects we've missed out on due to the roadblocks that exist in Hollywood and the apathy of those in a position to do more. As well as the audience that isn't using their clout.

I absolutely loved this movie! From the visual setting, to the music, and even the costumes - it all just drew you in.
As a native of Louisiana, this movie makes me home sick each time I see it. Kasi Lemmons is very talented woman.
