It Was A Truly Beautiful Moment!

I truly meant what I said, it doesn't matter if Barack Obama wins or loses. He has ran his race for the nomination and for the presidency his way - with dignity, honor, and class. I hope he achieves all of the promised greatness with tomorrow night's speech and hopefully becoming the first black president, but I was proud for him TODAY. I can't tell you how it felt when the roll call ended and he was formally nominated. It felt great, but that doesn't quite describe it. It just felt like the seemingly repetitive false promise of being the "first black" fill-in-the-blank was gone. For a few beautiful moments, we could believe in the magic, we could believe in the dream.

Exactly. I agree, win or lose, Barack Obama has proved that dignity and integrity still has a place in society.

has anyone heard that we have to show a govt issued photo id in order to vote in the election in nov?

i just read in the paper some falcon football players in ATL made psa's to remind people to bring their id's in order to cast a vote.

i need to check about that here in nc--maybe it's just in ga.

ok, prof.
i asked a friend that knows more about the voting laws then i do. she said that some states have passed those laws--(not NC)
republicans are using that to keep black voter turnout low--knowing that many black people do not have a lic nor a photo id issued from dmv.
that is a hot mess--

Somebody in those states that have these laws should org. the folks to get to dmv and get an id.

guurrlllll that is a hot mess for people of color and the income poor.
injustices!

i think indiana has that law also prof.
people need to check on this--i don't take my wallet in with me to vote?!! i leave it in the car.
i know that, this will not work. evil has no new tricks!

WTM -

You have to have an ID in Indiana. It royally pissed me off during the primary. Yes, I believe the ID law will stop many people from getting to vote.
