Crazy White People Chronicles - Family Has One Child Named Adolf Hitler And Another Named Aryan Nation And They Are Not Neo-Nazis - Just Regular Folk

Now being black, I ain't trying to say nothing about what folks name their children, but damn, Adolf Hitler? That's a lot of baggage to put on a little baby boy. The supermarket was wrong as hell and should have done his birthday cake. They are in the business of making cakes not judgments. If they weren't asked to write something nasty or racist, it was none of their damn business. I am a little worried that this story is getting national attention, what's next, folks naming their kids, Ted Bundy, Idi Amin Dada, or Freddy Kruger?

OMG. Seriously, no one at the hospital advised his parents against that name? They are claiming they aren't racist but yet named their children Aryan Nation and Adolf Hitler? He says mixed race children attended the party, what parents let their children of any race hang out at a family's house that decides to name their kids Adolf and Aryan Nation?

This is something not to cause concern? Its at the same level as Ted Bundy? And Ted Bundy is at the same level as Idi Amin?

Some folks will do just about anything to gain attention, I suppose. That is silly to name your kids in such fashion, however.

True - The supermarket should have put the name down that they requested - at the same time that "I just like the name" crap is bogus. Give me a break. I don't care how many black kids he has at the party.

@Siddity -

Now if the hospital can't stop black folk from naming their children anything that does not start with a La, Re, Ra, De, Da, or adding an incorrect comma or hypen within someone's name, how they gonna stop white folks?

For example, I went to college with a child named LaR,honda. It was pronounced La-Rhonda, but all the white folks noticed the comma and called her Lar Honda! LOL!

@Miriam -

I imagine to the families of all the women Bundy raped and murdered, not to mention all the states he scared the hell out of when they knew they had a serial killer, his name equals the murderous genocide of Idi Adim.

Truly, my only point was why would anyone want to name their child after anyone so notorious. Unfortunately names have value in our society, right or wrong.

PT, I mistakenly saw Al Bundy instead of Ted Bundy.

The part about not being racist doesn't fool me. Yeah, right...
Then perhaps Malcolm X; Martin Luther King; or 'Nigger nation' would work...

Use of these names in particular and the connotations that result are indicative of deeper issues on behalf of the parents.

I don't support the craziness that some minorities do either...name your child something they can remember, pronounce and spell! And use the english language as intended. I think you have to be careful.

I was going to say it's also possible the supermarket treated it as a "prank" (who could blame them if you think about it) and eventually asked for a credit card as refernce, but you know what, let's get the real deal...

The supermarket had a right to deny services based on their policies. This was too blatant. As a black person, I would be a hypocrite to say different. The average black individual would have been offended if someone called in year after year trying to order a cake with "Mr. KKK white power", "Willie Lynch" and with a picture of a noose. The average black person would have seriously considered to not patronize any supermarket that would have fulfilled such a blatant request.

Also, I can't honestly compare those ridiculous "black" names to those historically loaded names this family choose. The fact that they named more than one of their children with name sakes to these vile historic people, only makes their non-racist claim moot on behalf of racial insensitivity and subliminal race bating, if just that alone.

And another thing, notice how they tried to chime in on the premise of "Obama's change" to derisively justify their actions. These people are down right racist and spiteful. They need to bake their own racist cake, and if true, black folks don't need to send their kids over to celebrate it either.

No. I don't believe you. Just stop already. lol

Notice it was mixed kids. Not necessarily black kids that came to the party.

Gloria December 17, 2008 at 2:59 PM

WOW. People will do anything for attention even at the expense of their own children. That little boy is gonna catch hell with that name.

Um, mixed kids came to party? What were they mixed with? A dose of stupidity and a dose of damn shame?

Dr. Tracey Salisbury December 17, 2008 at 4:04 PM

@Miriam and Selena -

I'm with you, what exactly are "mixed kids"? Sounded like he was talking about goats!

@La-Incognita -

I kidd you not! I quit teaching elementary school because I had one class with two Lexuses, one Camyrie, two Demontes, and three Ebonys with three different spellings! WTF?

Teaching at a huge public state college in NC didn't help much, I had a student with a first name that used up nearly all 26 letters in the alphabet and started with a "Z" - a completely made-up and unique name. Thank the lord that child had a nickname she preferred!!!!!

@Pop-it P, Cinco, Mista Jaycee -

You may be right. I was too stunned by the overall story to properly consider and admit, that this folks might be racially delusional. The father's explanations do stink and do not explain this stupidity.

Okay...we can mess up spellings and pronunciations but come on...we don't go that far.

VCSMama December 18, 2008 at 2:33 AM

@cinco Um...I know someone named Malcolm X...um...and somone name Nathaniel Turner.

I guess I am more forgiving of names pulled out of the La, Ra, Da mind set. Those names are made up. Of course I think anyone should be shot for naming their kids Alize or Cristal.

Unknown December 18, 2008 at 12:40 PM

A VCSMama...
Perhaps I was trying to be too sarcastic. I meant that if the intent of these parents was indeed not to be racist, then they could have just as easily chosen to name their children after famous Blacks. I have no problem with the names I listed.
