Professor Tracey's Beloved L.A. Lakers Are The Worst Looking 21-3 Team In NBA History!

Anybody that reads this blog regularly knows I love my Lakers, but damn, can anyone on this damn team play a little defense? I don't care if they are 21-3, they look nothing like a championship squad. The Celtics or the Cavaliers would kick their butts right now. And why is Kobe Bryant looking mortal so far this season?

It's too early in the season. I guess the Lake show is on cruise control until the midway point. They have until late spring to do anything, so be patient fellow Laker fan!!!

My take - Kobe is looking mortal cause he is pacing himself. after going to the finals and fighting hard for 6 games - and remember where the Lakers were at the beginning of the season when he wanted out compared to where they ended up - i think he is pacing himself getting his legs together from the season and the Olympics.

The Lakers have a lot of weapons and he is not so concerned with taking over every night all night -he is doing what he has to do. Then after the all star break i think he is going to turn it up.

As far as the D goes - I haven't seen as many games so far this year, but if its like it was last year it was them Euro cats who love to shoot more than they love to D. I don't know if Farmar can half court D. I know Fish is doing his thing ain't even got to ask. Perhaps they need Boston to spank that ass on Christmas and show them how bad the D is... Cause I know Phil is telling them cats on the nightly - that record can be deceiving.. see Dallas a couple years ago.

However from watching the NBA over the last 30 years - the one thing I don't want the Lakers to do is peak too soon. The Celtics are here to stay - too many quality vets plus Rondo is playing like freaggin Tiny Archibald or something. you never know about the Cavs - Lebron is breaking his neck every night but hell he's still 24. He can do that.

I think Dec 25th will say a lot about where we are... on the real.

Gotta say I thought about you last night when I heard that the Lakers were taken down by the Knicks. The Knicks? I said. "PT must be chewing on her collar." Reminds me of that other favorite team we banter about (the Sparks). All that weaponry, but...

Dr Weems,

We BEAT the Knicks! We just didn't look good doing it!

@BBGCMAC -

That's my point, even when we won, it's looks like we lost! Damn! And I don't want to see a Celtics Xmas Day Smackdown. I'm home for the holidays, this is my chance to see tons of games and I'm not happy to see half-assed b-ball!

My bad!
Did LA win? ESPN was making such a big deal last night when I clicked on about how sloppy the game was that I thought for sure that LA had lost.

You know Professor Tracey, I sometimes think that I'm the only one who thinks this. It's nice to know that you do as well. I am not impressed with them. I still don't see them as mentally or physically tough enough to beat Detriot let alone Boston.

Ah yes those hated Celtics. You know the same team that beat the Lakers like they were gum on the sides of their shoes. The same Celtics that are the opposite of the Lakers; playing hard every night and doing all of the things that it takes to win.

I think you may be right Professor Tracey in that this Christmas game could very well be a repeat of June. I hope not but they have got to show me something!
