Puh-leeze. When will the sheeple learn? Murdoch will cut a few checks - if he's so inclined - for pennies on the dollar and Sharpton & Jealous will take them. I'd guess the low-ball amount of around $50K. Since Blacks are not the target demo for the NY Post anyway good luck with the boycott. How about adding all of the other Murdoch holdings to the list: tv networks/film studio/newspapers etc. It's not gonna happen because they're so reactionary to non-essential things. They have no strategy, no long term plans...for anything. It's just racism makes us all victims all the time bs. It's why so mant worship Obama and don't take the initiative to become leaders.
I've said the same thing also, boycott all of his holdings from MySpace and beyond.
Make the boycott put a small dent in his pocket. Even though he's worth over 8 Billion dollars, they can still do the right thing and get his attention.
Murdoch has already stated that controversy sells his products and makes him wealthy and he is right.
An apology and a firing...and maybe a mandatory sensitivity training for staff and a new minority hire... Then what?
There will surely be another "freedom of speech" issue where someone expresses some racist nonsense in the guise of bucking the PC-police or something. Again we will protest and boycott and blog and again we will get the standard non-apology apology.
Is it not possible to come up with new strategies and new demands in 2009 and beyond? Not trying to be contrary--just an honest question.
A firing would be a start.
Remember Imus? Too many thought his firing would change how many Americans view Blacks. It did not.
Too many in power just don't give a damn.
