President Obama Needs To Tell ASU And Notre Dame To Go Jump And Speak At The Bennett College Graduation Instead
Notre Dame students and priests are whining about President Obama speaking at their commencement and Arizona State University doesn't think that President Obama is "experienced" enough to be granted a honorary degree to speak at their commencement.
And what truly kills me is if President Obama had only agreed to speak at commencements for historically black colleges and universities; say like Bennett College for Women in Greensboro, North Carolina, folks would have been howling as loud as they could about how our President is disregarding the major universities.
No HBCU would be whining about the President of the United States speaking at a graduation and sure in the hell would not insult him by not granting him an honorary degree!

Screw Notre Dame, how can you be POTUS and not worthy of a Honory degree, they wouldn't be talking s**t if Clampett was still President! We both know he wasn't deserving of any degree!
You can tell these folks have "nothing" to do. I say skip 'em and go elsewhere...
Stephen Colbert got an honorary doctorate degree from Knox College for goodness sake! I am so sick at these digs at Obama. Bush got honorary degrees and for what? Being a mediocre student and failing at many businesses before being recruited to run for governor of Texas?
I see Barack is still doesn't want to stand next to a black folks too long, he thinks the people who already don't like him b/c he is black will be mad. He really has been doing this since the election. He will probably start visiting black institutions at the end of the 2nd term if he has one.
Who wouldn't want the current President to speak at their graduation? It just shows the ignorance of some people.
The person really annoying me in all this is the President. I don't know if he cannpt realise this, but this is about disrespect. Frankly, I think he should cancel it. They even said the would 'consider' him for an honorary degree AFTER he is no longer in office. Notice that they didn't say he would need to have any other 'body of work'!
What does he have to do to be considered worthy of an honorary degree? Solve world hunger and end world poverty in the next 40 freaking days? Jeez.
I agree. That would be so awesome for him to show up at a small college like Bennett. I'm an Aggie, but I wouldn't hate on the Belles. These other schools can kick rocks, seriously.
now, you knew i was going to say something sister prof! lolo
Yeah, he should come on down here and say a little sompting someting...And they also asked his wife to come. not sure if she gave an answer yet.
Some of the students have been on a writing campaign to convince him or her to come and speak. Time is not on their side though--you know how these things go.
And i say, if not this year, there will always be next year.
as for the other org. higher learning places...well, one day they will learn just how ignorant they used to be...I HOPE! And if not, well, i do know "you reap what you sow!"
on feet of faith&peace,

I won't even speak to the insanity going on right not at ASU. I just wanted to say that I love this picture of Julianne Malveaux shaking a Bennett student's hand. Beautiful. Moving.
