Reason # 32 - Why The Education System Is Totally Jacked Up - Student Gets Suspended For Taking Girlfriend To Prom At Another School

What in the hell does this have to do with educating anyone? You stop this kid from graduating because he went dancing. What exactly is the lesson learned here?

Professor Tracey- I know what this young man is going through...and it's a reality for the Christian school attendee. I moved from California right before my sophomore year in high school. I went to a private, Baptist school right outside of Richmond, Virginia. I remember my first day of school. I wore pants (black and white checkered). They had the ONLY black teacher, who taught Spanish, to explain to me that pants were not allowed, except on Friday's. Duh! I grew up in private schools! Just don't say in my interview that pants are accepted...jerks. Anyway. When it came to "banquets", because there was no dancing, girls had to bring in their dresses for approval. I mean literally TRY ON THE DRESS in front of the principal (woman)!!!

Needless to say, that at graduation from this private, Baptist school, I was not one of the pregnant or engaged ladies, I was accepted and going to a four year HBCU, and almost ten years later, I am happily single, pursuing my dreams, etc etc.

Being in that environment was a very repressive one to be in. And because it was, so many of the students were smokers, having sex before marriage, cheating, in abusive relationships, so foreth and so on. And all while wearing a mask for the sake of the Lord. Growing up in a Christian family and educational system, particularly at school, I felt such a disconnect with who I felt I really was. When I graduated from high school, I don't think I felt that same about "Christian" institutions after that.

So, if anyone is found to be dancing or listening to rock music in the privacy of their own home, do they get suspended for that too???

You can interpret the bible anyway you want, but it's just that - your own interpretation.
Trying to dictate who is or isn't a Christian or who's more or less of a Christian based on stuff like this only creates an Us vs. Them mentality. And that's not very Christian-like now is it???

I think the school's policies are ridiculous. However, the boy and his parents knew what they were getting into when they went to the school. He signed a contract at the beginning of the school year. Thus, he essentially agreed to follow the rules and was fully aware of the consequences of not following the rules.

And they wonder what's wrong with my generation. Is stupid ish like this.

Why did he go to that school?

Things are very strict where I am and since I'm more middle of the road, I don't fit in too many places -rather my lifestyle and thus my kids don't. So I am trying to home school. Yes, even the home rules the kids will try to defy. But hopefully if its in their hearts, it'll be okay. The parts they reject, I'll have to swallow my ego and accept.

This case hits pretty close to home, so i was interested to hear what Mr. Blackfirewhitefire thought.

He thinks he wouldn't be surprised if other kids did stuff against the rules but just didn't get caught like this guy did. LOL!

sigh....another example of how some people use christianity to oppress, hate, control, and spout out wrong teachings based on jacked up understandings.
spiritual and emotional maturity is not part of the teaching that people like this live by.

If he took and passed all the classes that the state curriculum stated as neccessary for graduation--then he has the right in that state to graduate.

each district can impliment their own standards to go along with the states, but this young man has the beginning and the end of a good lawsuit.

**side note=prof what's up with the side of your blog?
it's not there?

one other thing,
so if some people that belong to this church school get married and dance at the reception--are they sinners for that?
again, it is so sad how people pervert the Lord and continue to use Him to oppress and demean His people!
they will never get people to come to Jesus this way!
But oh do i thank Him for the few that do obey His command to forgive and to offer love-no matter what!
