Meet Dr. Regina Benjamin - President Obama's Pick For Surgeon General

Here's one bio on her. The trolls are already spewing racist and sexist comments on the Huff Post announcement. It doesn't matter she seems truly awesome.

I'm sure the GOP will find some way to turn a dedicated public servant into some kind of uneducated, racist monster, but don't fall for the Jedi Mind Tricks folks.

Dr. Benjamin has seen tough times just like Judge Sonia Sotomayor and she's not afraid of the challenge ahead. Let's support her on her journey.

Congradulations. This is truly inspiring for me personally being a black female med student. :D

In the seven elections that I've voted in, I've never seen so many people 'care' about every move the sitting President makes. In some ways this is progress. In other ways I know it's because he's Black. In a perfect world every selection would be perfect. In this real world full of sexism, racism and ignorance nothing he does is 'right'. Everyday, I think about why I thought McCain picked hockey mom Palin, he WANTED to lose. He knew the enormity of all the challenges and just how f*ucked up the incoming Presidents' job would be. I'm not saying every decision by President Obama has been great, but he has done alot of great things already inspite of 8 years of mess he had to clean up. Dr. Benjamin seems good and I hope she is selected.

And to the critics/pundits and idiots out there that are so unhappy...join former Gov. Palin on her front porch and head towards a 'better' country... lol
yeah, I though so.....

Obviously the first person who commented was only let into med school because they're a minority. Since you can't spell simple words such as "congratulations".

AWESOME! Maybe he'll appoint you next!

If you're in med school I'm frightened.
You cannot even spell "congratulations".
I assume you were let in for being a black female.
Fair society.
