Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin's Custom Made Inauguration Hat A Huge Hit For The Designer

I wasn't feeling it, but I think the Queen of Soul can wear whatever the hell she wants. Despite my misgivings, apparently a whole bunch of other people were loving her hat. The Queen of Soul still setting trends after all these years. I can't believe some people were hating on her singing. I enjoyed her interpretation. Sigh..........

My grandmother would have loved that hat. I thought it looked nice with the coat.

As far as her song is concerned, she sounded great at the beginning. Then she started doing what I call the Jodeci/Anita Baker/Toni/Chaka. You know, the type of singing where you can't understand the words. Aretha wasn't even pleased with her performance.

Good morning!

I am enjoying your blog today - finally have time to read it at my leisure. Interesting comments flowing about The Inauguration.

Yes, it was wonderful seeing the Queen of Soul (with covered breasts, lol) doing her do!! Her outfit, hat included was a nice blend of old and new - reminding us all of those fabulous church women.

I heard nothing wrong in her interpretation and delivery of "My Country Tis of Thee" - it was quite enjoyable.

BTW - just read in the LA Times online that since Aretha Franklin sang at the inauguration thousands of people have called Luke Song, owner of - Mr. Song Millinery where Aretha got her hat, to get one for themselves. lolololol!!!!

I too think that initially she sung well, then tried ti take it to a level where her vocal cords no longer cooperate. I thought she appeared to ? not feel well or something, she grimaced several times and seemed to have a perpetual scowl...
